Unfortunately, execution with parameters is not yet an internal ability of Menu Inventor, however, there is a trick. Create a shortcut (.lnk) pointing to the file and add the parameters to its target. Add a new program pointing to this shortcut and you will be able to launch the original program with parameters. Hello my name is Verminox and I liked your program and from what I saw of the screenshots, its very good.
However, whenever I try to edit anything it gives me:
Runtime Error: 429; Could not create ActiveX object
and then it just shuts down the program.
I am using Windows XP Professional SP2.
Any way you could help?
Thanks,
- Verminox.

PS: For a feature suggestion I would suggest that you create a feature where one can add a folder reference as a menu item. Which means, that if a new file was added to the folder, or if some files were renamed/deleted from that folder, then the menu updates itself with those changes. Basically it will just be a menu pointing to files in a specific folder for easy accessibility.

Firstly, thanks for the compliment. I will have to look closely at that ActiveX bug, because I thought it only happens on Win98s.
That feature you suggested is certainly very interesting and I will implement it as soon as I will be able to return to this project.

A big thanks for the bug and the suggestion.

Thanks again, definitely I'll have to fix that ActiveX problem... it really foxes me, since I don't know what that actually means and what should be done. Probably some out-dated shared files... but definitely the next release should have this fixed Wink

I found another bug in win98s: Batch add crashes after choosing a folder or clicking cancel at the Browse for folder dialog. The Menu Inventor Quick Add dialog appears but at the same time so does the windows illegal operation box.

Thank you, I will look into it as soon as possible (we are currently in the state of fixing the ActiveX error) Wink

We did it. Thanks to Verminox, we have fixed the ActiveX problem (hopefully, at least on WinXP Pros). Verminox was so kind that he has tested the application and submitted bugs to us. Respect!

Im just confirming that it didnt fix the ActiveX error for me on win98s. To add more detail to the bug: It occurs it seems when anything is changed in a folder. It happens when inserting or pasting, moving up or down. First the arrows dissapear but the programme doesnt crash until you move the mouse to another folder. Hope this helps Smile

Right, I will have to debug this on a real Win98. I think I'll take this to school, where they still use these old (bad) OSes Smile.
I might need your help. If you consent, please contact us on macduy@gmail.com.

First off, I really like Menu Inventor, but I can't seem to get a few of my apps to work properly. I've added most of them with the copy file path feature and they function from your menu as they should. But there are a few, that when I put them in, they do not work or they work until I delete the desktop shortcut to them. Diskeeper, StickPad & Imagicon come to mind. These are ones where the copy file path does not appear in my right click menu. Any help to add these types of programs to Menu Inventor would be great.

Hi,

these programs don't work most probably because they are not run as direct .exe files, but instead they call a different application and pass a parameter. This is the case of Diskeeper, which has to be run through a shortcut. Using the "Retrieve LNK target" will cause it not to run.

I will try to fix this issue in the upcoming version, for now, as a workaround I suggest you create a shortcut to these application (as you had before), keep them in a place hidden away so that you don't accidentally delete them and then add these shortcuts into Menu Inventor.

Thanks Hai, appreciate the quick response. Will hide the shortcuts and use Menu Inventor from them until you find a good work around. Thanks again.

ever since i installed the 1.11 patch, the "MenuIt" program appears in the windows task bar. this isn't a big deal, just an annoyance. BTW, i'm running XP MCE. thanks for the great work!

Hi,

thank you for pointing this out. Menu Inventor will pop up in the task bar when you have turned off the "Always on top" option. This is because Menu Inventor would be buried under other windows, making it impossible to be used. When "Always on top" is turned on, Menu Inventor should disappear from the task bar Wink .
