Input Past End

Symptoms

This error is caused by corrupting the internal structuring of the menu file. This can be accidentally brought about by the user e.g.

  • adding stuff from the desktop
  • including commas in the name of a menu item
The user might not actually know, that anything is being broken until the changes are saved and/or the file reloaded.

Solution

v1.0 alpha
The only possible solution is to manually repair the menu.mif file, located in C:\Program Files\Menu Inventor. If you wish, you can send the file to Hai, who will willingly edit the file for you in his free time. You will receive the repaired file by e-mail in usually 24 hours.

v1.1
The same error has been reported for RC1 as well. The solution is similar, but you should send menu.mxf, menu.mxf.bkp and menu.mxf.bkp2. If you get this error from a converted menu.mif file, attach the original menu.mif file as well. Otherwise, follow the instructions described in the enclosed User Guide.pdf.

v1.1

Currently, mechanisms to prevent this error from happening are investigated and some are already implanted into the 1.1 version. If you encounter the problem in version 1.1, follow the instructions outlined in the User Guide.pdf
